    Foodhy launches its crowdfunding campaign to support personalised nutrition

    Foodhy (Colombia, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali), one of the 20 ideas selected to receive support from Santander X Explorer, is a platform designed to transform the way we search for, manage, and analyse what we consume.

    Have you ever wondered what’s really in the products you consume? Often, we don’t know what additives and ingredients are in what we buy, which can affect our health. This lack of awareness is not trivial, as 74% of all deaths worldwide are caused by non-communicable chronic diseases (such as cancer, cardiovascular problems, diabetes, or obesity, among others). In recent years, Colombia has recorded more than 967 million medical visits due to these diseases. It’s crucial that we become aware of what we are consuming and how it can affect our long-term health.

    Foodhy is closely aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 3, specifically target 3.4, which aims to reduce premature mortality from non-communicable diseases by a third by 2030. The project addresses this challenge by providing tools that allow people to make informed decisions about their diet.

    “*At Foodhy, our mission is to empower people to make informed choices about their food, in order to prevent and mitigate diseases. We offer tools to manage food consumption. We facilitate product searches through filters for ingredients, location, origin, price, additives, and allergens, as well as nutritional details, barcode scanning, and personalised recommendations,*” explains Gregson, a team member.\

    The platform not only allows users to access detailed information about the products they consume but also helps them adjust their diet according to their personal health goals.\

    Foodhy aims to expand regionally, consolidating its presence in countries with a high incidence of non-communicable diseases. Its long-term vision includes using nutrigenomics to transform the wellness experience, with the goal of being recognised as a global leader in promoting healthy habits.\
