Because you’re going to meet a person who grew up poor and is now mentioned by Forbes as a promoter of investment in underestimated founders and financiers. Lolita is an expert at finding unicorn startups, identifying them, and gauging the potential that others don’t see.

Our next TalkX guest is Lolita Taub, whose story wins you over from the start. Before telling you about her past, keep her present in mind: partner at Ganas Ventures, from where she invests in companies still in the seed (and even pre-seed) stage with a common denominator: they are community-oriented. She knows very well the type of unicorn startups she is looking for and how to find them, thanks to 15 years of experience in the Silicon Valley ecosystem: she has exceeded 70 million dollars in sales. In addition, she has made more than 90 “angel” investments (also from her position as a Scout at Lightspeed Venture Partners and as vice president of Backstage Capital and The Community Fund).

Lolita is co-founder of the proprietary Startup Investor Matching Tool and GP-LP Matching Tool, as well as LaaS, a community of over 4,000 founders, financiers, and supporters of the entrepreneurial ecosystem. Both Forbes and Inc Magazine have recognised her as one of the women promoting investment in undervalued founders and financiers.

Lolita’s origins are in South Los Angeles, where her Mexican parents arrived with nothing in their pockets and no family to support them. Her father found work as a farmer, then in a door factory, and later as a truck driver, while her mother cleaned houses and took care of children. “We grew up poor,” Lolita explains. “People used to tell me that I would drop out of school and have to go on welfare,” she adds. At 34, she has a bachelor’s degree, an MBA, and more than a decade of experience in the technology sector, where she has held senior positions in venture funds built on investing in women, people of colour, and the LBGTQ+ community.

Convinced of our next TalkX star? Don’t miss out on what she has to tell us: it will be on Thursday, October 20th, at 20:00 h. (UTC +2), on Explorer’s Twitch channel. After the talk, selected Explorers will join her in a private Q&A session.

If you want to have the chance to talk face-to-face with the leading figures in entrepreneurship, don’t wait for a second longer and sign up for the next edition of Explorer: we have just opened a new call!
