Neuroplastic_Lab is one of the 20 ideas selected for support from Santander X Explorer and has now kicked off its crowdfunding campaign.
This social project, with a scientific-technological focus and developed in Chile, is aligned with the 2030 SDGs. It contributes to reducing inequalities (SDG 10) by providing equitable opportunities for neurodivergent individuals and focusing on the inclusion of children and adolescents in both educational systems and social contexts. Additionally, it aims to enhance mental well-being and health (SDG 3) for neurodiverse populations, offering a concrete tool to aid therapists and teams in inclusion and child and adolescent mental health. Finally, it is also related to quality education (SDG 4), as it supports the work of teachers, facilitating possibilities to focus pedagogical work and accompany students both inside and outside the school context.
“This project emerges from the direct experience of a lifetime of working with children and young people in contexts of neurodiversity and social vulnerability, both in the pedagogical field and in the clinical therapeutic practice of children and young people. It is also the result of over a decade of research in the neuroscientific field and the possibilities that data science offers to those of us working in education and childhood, allowing us to base our work on tangible physiological evidence from participants in therapeutic and educational processes as well as rigorous statistical processing. Finally, the development of Neuroplastic_Lab also involved experimentation in a Fab lab context, where linking the development of portable digital electronic technology (Wearable Tech) has allowed this venture to be envisioned and created. This campaign will help make this system available to those who wish to build opportunities for inclusion in their classrooms, homes, and communities,” explains Carmen Gloria Jiménez, founder of Neuroplastic_Lab.
Fundraising has already begun for this project. The campaign aims to raise funds to improve and expand the operation of a system to support the approach to neurodiversity, consisting of a biometric capture kit, a data processing and visualisation platform and a remote therapeutic work interface. Here you can see the status of their campaign and, if you want, how to collaborate with them!
